Humphrey Fellowship Program in USA 2022 – Fully Funded

Humphrey Fellowship Program in USA

Founded by the renowned architect Charles and Ray Eames, the Humphrey Fellowship program offers two one-year fellowships each year in the US to talented individuals who wish to pursue creative projects. The fellowships provide them with living space, studio time, access to mentors and resources, and funding. The fellowship includes a $40,000 stipend, with additional funds for travel and studio materials.

A new fellowship program designed to encourage and support young artists and professionals to attend the 2010 Humphrey Arts Festival in Minnesota. Humphrey Arts Festival (Haf) was created in 1984 to give emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit their art work while creating a new dialogue between them and audiences around the world.

The Humphrey Art Fellowship (HAF) was established by an endowment from the estate of Mary Humphrey. The fellowship is given annually to four young artists and one young professional whose work is currently displayed in the Minnesota Artist’s Gallery at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.

To conclude the fellowship, the artists and professional must present a public program, which may be an exhibition, lecture, or workshop.

Each year, the Humphrey Art Fellowship Committee reviews applications and selects the artists and professional to receive the fellowship. The selection process is based on the following criteria:

1. The artist and professional must be a Minnesota resident.

2. The work must be a new work, created during the fellowship year.

3. The work must be in the Minnesota Artist’s Gallery at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.

4. The work must be in some way connected to the theme of the Humphrey Institute’s Humphrey Arts Festival.

5. The work must be an original piece of art, not a derivative work or a copy.

6. The work must be the artist’s or professional’s first public presentation.

As I have said before, I have a soft spot for this one, as it is the only one of the fellowship criteria that I have not personally experienced.

The artists and professional are notified of the selection in June of the fellowship year.
