Italian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students for the academic year 2022-2023 in order to foster international cultural, scientific, and technological cooperation, to promote Italian language and culture and to support Italy’s economic system in the world (According to Law 288/55 and its subsequent changes and additions).
Grants are offered to support study, training, and/or research programs in Italian Higher Education Institutions both public and legally recognized. You can apply for Italian Language and Culture courses, and some master’ degree programs.
Target Group: Foreign students. Scholarship value/duration: The scholarship covers tuition and other costs associated with the program including accommodation, daily allowance, and insurance (for non-Italian residents). An exemption is not granted for students from eligible foreign countries.
Health and Medical/Accident Insurance Grantees will be covered by a health and medical/accident insurance contracted by the Government of the Northern Mariana Islands for the entire duration of the grant.
Grantees will receive a monthly allowance of 900 euros on a quarterly basis, which will be paid to their Italian bank account. The scholarship duration can be six months or nine months depending on the type of course.
Renewals are granted only to applicants who prove satisfactory academic progress. Eligibility: Academic qualifications Applications must only be submitted by foreign students not residing in Italy and by Italian citizens living abroad (IRE)* holding an appropriate academic qualification required to enroll in the Italian University/Institute.
In Italy, applicants must not be older than 35 for the Italian language courses (with the sole exception of renewals), and 39 for the Master Degree/Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) Programmes.
Applicants for Ph.D. The program must be in the final year of a B.Sc. or M.Sc. and must have obtained a minimum grade of 60 percent for at least two of the following subjects: English, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry. Applicants for Research Projects under academic supervision must be in their final year of a B.Sc. or M.Sc. and must have obtained a minimum grade of 65 percent in each of these four subjects.
If you want to enroll in an Italian-taught course, you must provide a certificate of your proficiency in the Italian language. The minimum level required is B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Applicants to the Italian-taught course must submit the language certification issued by a language teacher of the University department. In order to enroll in an English-taught course, applicants must provide a language certification of their proficiency in the English Language.
A Level 1 qualification (or equivalent) is the minimum level of proficiency required for any course taught entirely in English. To gain this qualification you must have studied at an institution that provides a full-time, non-degree course of study scheme, and have achieved at least a grade 5 in all core and key skills areas.
Applicants for Italian language courses do not need proof of their proficiency in the language. They are required to have a CEFR A2 level or equivalent for the first year of the course. For the second year, they need B1. For the third year, a C1 is necessary.
For Ph.D. programs and Research projects under academic supervision, no proof of language proficiency is required for Ph.D. programs and Research under academic supervision. Students who exceed the legal duration of their studies cannot be allowed to take exams. They must be excluded from the process.
