Rhodes Global Scholarships 2022

The Rhodes Global Scholarships 2022 are for study at Oxford or Cambridge. Until recently, the Rhodes Scholarships have only been awarded in 20 constituencies (representing over 60 different countries). Students studying in one of these countries may qualify for an additional scholarship. With the introduction of the Global Scholarships, the Rhodes Scholarships are now open to applicants around the world. The Rhodes Global Scholarship will look for outstanding young leaders who want to make a difference in their community and who understand how to engage with people from other cultures.

Host Institution(s): University of Oxford, UK. Level/Fields of study: All full-time postgraduate degrees offered by the University of Oxford, with some exceptions. Number of Scholarships: 2. Target group: Students who are not from existing Rhodes constituencies.

The award is for tuition fees, accommodation, and study costs. It also provides a living stipend, which is about £17,000 per year, as well as a monthly allowance of £5,000 for living expenses. The scholarship can be extended for a maximum of 4 years.

Eligibility: A. Nationality/citizenship: You must only apply to the Global Scholarships if you are not eligible to apply via any other existing Rhodes constituency.

You must be at least 18 and not have reached your 24th birthday (i.e. you must have been born after 1 October 1998 and on or before 1 October 2004. to apply for this role.

i. In October 2022, you must have reached your 27th birthday (i.e. be born after 1 October 1995. and you must have met or will meet the academic requirements for graduating from your first undergraduate degree.

Academics: You need to have already completed, or will have completed by July 2023, an undergraduate degree (normally a Bachelor’s degree) with an academic background and grade that – at a minimum – meets or exceeds the specific entry requirements of your chosen full-time course at the University of Oxford.

1.Given the very intense international competition for places at the University of Oxford, candidates will have a better chance of successful admission to Oxford if they have a First Class Honours Degree or equivalent or a GPA of

2.0 or higher.

d. English language: You must have a sufficiently high standard of English to meet the English language proficiency requirements of the University of Oxford. e. If unsuccessful in your first application to the Rhodes Scholarships, you may subsequently re-apply only once more (and this must be in the same constituency), subject to meeting the eligibility criteria Application instructions: Applications open on 1 June 2022.

You must obtain a letter of nomination from your university in order to submit an application for the Global Scholarship.

You are the person you’ve nominated by – no one else can nominate you. You will need to register the details of someone else who will be your nominated in the Nominee Details section of the Application Form.

Rhodes Global Scholarships 2022 Eligibility

Eligibility. Nationality/Citizenship: Global Scholarships are open to applicants who have been selected as Global Scholars by the Rhodes Trust and are nationals of any country.

I recommend you also consider the possibility of applying for a Global Scholarship rather than a UK based one, which would probably be the most competitive Rhodes Scholarships offered.

Age: You must be: At least 18 (not yet 24.; OR; you must be older than 27 (and have not yet completed your first undergraduate degree). What’s the difference? The words in bold are the only things that change. The words in italic do not change at all. The words underlined do. A: The bold words are the only part that changes.

In ambiguous cases, the decision of the National Secretary is final. Financial resources: You must have at least $1,000 in cash to invest. We will review any cases where applicants appear to have insufficient funds to cover their expenses.

Note, if unsuccessful in your first application to the Rhodes Scholarships, you may subsequently apply once more, but only in the same constituency.

The Rhodes Scholarship is not deferable, though you are eligible to apply for other scholarships, such as the Marshall Scholarship, during your senior year.

University nomination

Columbia University will nominate three students for Rhodes scholarships. Students from any country may apply to these scholarships.

Please consult the Rhodes website for application guidelines for your country, as not all countries require nomination (if your country is not listed, you will apply through the Rhodes Global competition). You must be a member of the Columbia community to be eligible for this competition.
